Devisri reuses SD tune, Kollywood cinema Sachin stalls??
It is not a new thing that music composers reuse their tunes in different languages. Ilayaraja reused his hit tunes in different languages. Manisharma, in the recent past, reused his hit tunes in Tamil viz. tunes of Kushi and Annayya for Vijay's films. A case filed by Gemini Film Circuit for the use of their Shankardada tune in Tamil film Sachin came as a beamer. Tamil boxoffice is gearing up with 3 big films for this Tamil newyear (14th Apr) - Rajanikanth's Chandramukhi, Kamal's Mumbai Express and Vijay's kollywood cinema Sachin. Kalaipuli S. Thanu is the producer of Vijay, Bhipasha Basu starrer Sachin. Devisri Prasad composed music for this film. Devisri Prasad used the tune of "Naa Pere Kanchanamala" song from Shankardada MBBS. Gemini Film Circuit, the production banner of Shankardada MBBS, filed a case saying Devisri Prasad has copied the tune, music track of the song. Gemini Film Circuit, which paid 30 Lakhs to the composer, is reportedly planning to use the tunes in their future films. The complaint also claims that producer of Sachin, S.Thanu, committed copyright violations. Following the case, the highcourt issued restraining orders for the release of the film Sachin. Just one day to go for the release, Sachin film faced the crisis. Sachin's producers were very concerned since the prints to US were already dispatched and the local prints are to be released anytime now. The crisis came to an end with Madras High court clearing the film to release for 14th April. The court agreed on the pact with Sachin's producer that the song will be screened only with visuals and the song will not be used. As the producers told the media, a different song will be composed and will be inserted in a weeks time. Till then only a background score will run for the visuals of the song. Apparently, the song is a sizzler, filmed on Vijay and Bipasha Basu. Well! The film is opening up tomorrow. Thats good news for the producers.

Trisha waiting ?

Who is the lucky producer of Rajini's next film after Shivaji? It is a billion dollar question for Kollywood pundits who are eagerly waiting for the superstar's next film.

However, sources said that the actor is planning to do a film to be jointly made by K.Balachander's Kavithalaya and R.M.Veerappan's Sathya Movies. But one more producer is likely to join the list. It is none other than Panchu Arunachalam, one of the important producers who pushed Rajini to the position he is currently in. Panchu had incurred loss of almost Rs.1 crore from his recent release Maayakkannadi, directed by Cheran. On learning about the loss, Rajini called on the producer over phone and assured him to do a film for him in future. Sources said that Rajini wants to include Panchu Arunachalam in the producers list of his next film.

Another big question is the heroine of the film. Well, the news is doing the rounds that Trisha, the seductive queen of South Indian Cinema would play the female lead role. He has finished all her commitments but she is rejecting new offers, waiting for the call from Rajini to play his heroine.

Malavika gets angry!

She recently met Prabhu Deva under unexpected circumstances. He is not the dance master of the olden days. He is now a mega director, who has directed Vijay in Tamil, Chiranjeevi in Telugu and Salman Khan in Hindi.

When Malavika met him, she told him he was giving chance for so many people in his films, so why not give her also a chance? Prabhu Deva could have said he would look into it, or could have even turned her down, but he chose however to say, "But you are married!"

Malavika got so angry. Was it such a crime to get married? She told him sternly that Madhuri Dixit and Kajol still acted after getting married and it was only in Tamil films that married actresses were discriminated against and how her fans were still affectionate towards her.

Simbu Releases Polladhavan Song!

Complaints that titles like 'Polladhavan,' 'Kettavan' and 'Porrikki' amounted to censure against certain people, came to the Producers Association. So the association approached the producers of these films to change the titles of the said films, adding that though the titles may be in Tamil, they would not approach the govt for concession for films with such anti-social titles.

The producer of 'Polladhavan' convinced the Producers Association that this title has already been used for Rajini's film and this did not censure anyone.

Shakti Chidambaram, the producer / director of 'Porrikki' has smartly explained that Porrikki means one who picks out the ills of society. It is learnt that the association did not accept this explanation. So Shakti Chidambaram has agreed to change the title of his film.

On his part, Simbu has offered the explanation that 'Kettavan' means one who has been spoilt because of a woman, and so did not censure anyone in particular. So the film will retain its original title.

Only now we have come to know of the many explanations behind a title!
